Armidale Ride

We set off about 7.30 on Saturday morning, arriving in Armidale about midday to our intimate one bedroom/four person motel accom, complete with a ripper 80’s interior paint job, paintings to make Leonardo Da Vinci jealous and just enough room to fit four bikes inside to keep them out of the cold.

It didn’t take long before Andy, Tony and Cam couldn’t keep still and convinced me to cancel my sleeping roster and get out and enjoy Armidale’s beautiful backyard. Following Tony and Andy in front (but actually Tony’s GPS) towards the local trails, we took the scenic route, with Cam finding it very amusing, but in his best interest let them wander at a distance.

When we arrived at the Piney we discovered the beaut trails full of variety with a splash of rocks and roots thrown in between the sweet flowy singletrack, techy rooty/rocky climbs and with A-line rock chutes to match and a radiator cooling creek crossing.

Afterwards, we had another putt around at the uni trails which were super flowy and fun, not techy but a great venue for a night ride/race and great place to have a ball and chase your mates any day, any time.

Afterwards we scrubbed up and had a feed at one of the local pubs, with lamb shanks being a favorite! Although….. someone thought Cam would prefer a kiddies chicken nugget meal, while smelling the sweet aroma of tigerbalm haha…

The morning start was pretty cruisy…….except that Tony and Andy thought it would be cool to wake up at some time around 5….. with the race start being at 11 am.

The days’ racing went well with everyone having a great time, and racing to achieve their personal goals.
